On  March 26, Robert Parua, Head of Educational Programs of UNESCO in Beijing visited Liaoning University. Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University met the guest in person.

President Yu extended his warm welcome to Robert’s visit to Liaoning University. He noted that with a history of over 75 years, Liaoning University’s application to be a chair unit of UNESCO bears great significance. He expressed thanks to Robert’s strong support in the process and added that Liaoning University attaches great important to sustainable development education. In 2022, Liaoning University organized a delegation team to Costa Rica to attend the 22 Sustainable Development Educational Conference on Earth Charter. The successful application to the chair unit not only renders great significance to the cooperation between Liaoning University and the departments in UNESCO, but also helps to expend the university’s influence in the global context.

Vice President Huo Chunhui also met Robert at the reception room. He stressed that as an important global agenda, Liaoning University pays great attention to the education on sustainable development. If the application is successful, Liaoning University will build more ties with institutions of higher education by sharing its best practices and experience, co-hosting international conferences, jointly conducting R&D programs to enhance academic exchanges so that more insights can be produced to facilitate national and social development.
